Unicorn Platform is one of the quickest ways for a non-technical founder to get a good-looking landing page live: pick a template, describe the product, then edit the result block by block with AI rewrites, with forms, popups, a blog and payment buttons available as blocks, on plans that start at $9 a month billed annually. Unicorn Platform’s directory block is a renderer: you type a title, text, URL, category and image link into a Google Sheet, and the block shows the rows as cards with search, filters and a page per row. Every listing is yours to find, describe and keep accurate, and the AI helps only when you ask it to rewrite a block. Ever Works starts from the topic: its 15-step pipeline analyzes the domain, discovers candidates through web search, extracts and writes each listing, deduplicates, assigns categories and tags, captures screenshots, and checks that every source URL is both reachable and actually a good source for that item. It also writes A-vs-B comparison pages between listings from its own web research. Directories are the most mature Work kind Ever Works ships today; blog posts and landing copy are written through Agent tasks rather than by a dedicated generator.
Unicorn re-reads your sheet when you edit it, and that is where upkeep ends: there is no scheduler, no link checking and nothing that discovers new entries, so the directory is as current as your last spreadsheet session — and Unicorn’s help center advises keeping the sheet to about 2,500 rows before page loads degrade. Ever Works re-runs its research pipeline on seven cadences from hourly to monthly, retries a failed run after 15 minutes, pauses itself after repeated failures and notifies you; scheduled runs find and add new listings, refresh stale entries and re-validate sources on their own cadence, and the result lands as commits or pull requests you can review. Visitor submissions arrive through the generated site’s multi-step /submit form with moderation and a member dashboard, and community pull requests are processed hourly with AI extraction.
With Unicorn, pages live in its database and listings live in your Google Sheet; the way out is an HTML export that you must re-run by hand for every change, cannot import back, and that leaves images and videos for you to rehost, while the public API covers blog posts only. Ever Works creates three repositories per Work in your own GitHub account — data, markdown and website — clones the template into your account so you can change anything, and deploys to Vercel, Kubernetes or Ever Works managed hosting. The runtime itself is open source under AGPLv3 with no paid feature tier, runs on Docker Compose, Kubernetes or your own machine, works with your choice of AI provider including local models, and is reachable from the CLI and the MCP server as well as the dashboard.
Unicorn’s Stripe and Paddle buttons sit on the landing page, and nothing in its documentation ties them to a directory row, so a paid or sponsored listing is something you administer by hand outside the block. The directory site Ever Works generates ships plan-gated listings on Free, Standard and Premium plans, sponsored placements bought at /sponsor and approved in the admin, promo codes with click analytics, and checkout through Stripe, Lemon Squeezy, Polar or Solidgate — plus 21 locales with hreflang, a map view, structured data, feeds and llms.txt for AI discoverability. Above the site, Missions propose Ideas that become Works staffed by named Agents with budgets and schedules, so one goal can grow into a portfolio of self-maintaining directories.
