Manus is a closed cloud agent that plans and executes work end to end — and now builds, hosts and Git-syncs full web and mobile apps. Ever Works researches the topic, writes the publishable content, generates the site, and keeps improving it on a schedule — content and code in your own Git.
Most agent platforms stop at a pull request or a report; Manus does not, and that is what makes it a serious comparison. It ships a real artifact — a hosted app with a managed database, login added by prompt, Stripe wired up, a custom domain with automatic DNS and SSL, SEO output and built-in analytics — plus a full code download and two-way sync to a private GitHub repository you own. Around that sits a general agent that researches, runs code, handles files, produces slides and images, drives your own logged-in browser, and executes commands on your Mac or PC under per-command approval. Ever Works starts earlier and runs longer: it researches the niche, writes the publishable content, generates the site from a template, deploys it, and re-runs that loop on a cadence you set, with both content and code committed to your Git. The honest split is what each one produces on its own — Manus is a general worker you point at whatever job is in front of you today, while Ever Works is a standing operation aimed at one thing: a content-rich business site that keeps growing. Manus leads clearly on breadth, on parallel research fan-out, on local and browser control, and on slides, images and mobile output; Ever Works leads on research-to-published-content, on scheduled upkeep that commits, on governance, and on an open-source runtime you can host yourself.
Manus researches extremely well and writes for you — reports, decks, analyses — but that output is delivered to you: email, Slack, Google Drive, a spreadsheet or a connector. It is not the content of the site it built. Ever Works treats publishable content as the product: its pipeline researches the niche, then writes items, categories, tags, collections, comparison pages and SEO metadata and commits them to the site’s data repository. Being straight about where we are — the directory kind is the mature one. Dedicated blog-post and landing-copy writers are still rolling out, so Blog, Website and Landing Page Works are fed by that same items pipeline today.
Both products schedule work, and it would be wrong to say otherwise. Manus has two schedule surfaces: recurring agent runs that deliver results to a channel you pick, and a cron job it writes into your site’s own code at setup so the site then runs its own logic. Neither re-runs an agent that researches, writes and commits new pages. Ever Works’ Scheduled Updates re-run the generation pipeline on one of seven cadences, with retries and failure tracking, and the result lands as commits in your repository — so the site moves forward without a new prompt.
Manus has honest Git ownership, so the difference here is narrower than it looks and worth stating precisely: its sync is code only, to the main branch. Ever Works commits the content and the typed, per-Work Knowledge Base alongside the code, gives every Task its own branch and private checkout with a merge policy deciding whether an agent may land its own pull request, and runs on an open-source AGPLv3 codebase you can self-host with Docker or Kubernetes. The models are yours too — eleven providers behind one OpenAI-compatible interface, including local Ollama, LM Studio and vLLM. Manus lets you choose within its own model lineup, but never routes to your provider account or your API key.
With Manus you start from a prompt each time, and a Project makes that start warmer by carrying a standing instruction and a file bundle. Ever Works gives you Missions that keep proposing Ideas, Ideas that become Works, and a named, persistent Agent team with scopes, Skills and Teams behind them — then wraps that autonomy in governance: quality gates that send work back, approvals and escalations, and a per-Agent spend cap enforced before every AI call rather than credits counted after each action. Store and Company builders are on the way; today the shipped artifact is the site.

Choose Manus when the job in front of you changes every week and you want one agent that can take on most of it: profile two hundred companies in parallel, build the deck, work through a logged-in web app using your own browser session, run commands against files on your own machine, then stand up a hosted app with a database, auth and Stripe and hand you the code. It also does several things Ever Works does not — slide and image generation, mobile app builds with TestFlight beta distribution and Google Play packaging (the final store submission stays yours), a desktop app shipping today where ours is still early access, real-time co-prompting of one task with a colleague, and SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 attestations reported by third-party analysis. If breadth of execution matters more than one site that has to keep publishing, Manus is the better buy.
