Emergent is a hosted, agentic app builder: describe an app and a set of coordinated AI agents designs, codes, tests and deploys a full-stack web app (React or Next.js, FastAPI, MongoDB) or an Expo mobile app on Emergent’s own Kubernetes infrastructure, backend and database included. It has grown quickly — a $70M Series B in January 2026 and, by February 2026, more than 6M builders and 7M apps — and its Pro-tier E3 mode can agree a plan with you and then build autonomously for hours. Ever Works starts from a different question: not “build what I specify” but “research this topic, write the content, generate the site from a template, deploy it, and keep it improving on a schedule”. Emergent’s autonomy is about building and task automation; Ever Works’ autonomy is about running a content-rich web property over time, with content and code in your own Git and an open-source runtime you can self-host. If you need a custom application with sign-in, a database, payments and a mobile client, Emergent covers ground Ever Works does not. If you need a site that lives on researched, maintained content, Ever Works does the research and the upkeep that Emergent leaves to you.
Emergent implements what you specify: a landing page, portfolio or storefront ships with whatever copy you prompt, and nothing on the platform researches a niche or writes publishable content. Ever Works runs a 15-step research pipeline before it builds — it searches the web, extracts and validates sources, and organizes what it finds into a taxonomy — then writes the directory content and generates the site to present it. One honest caveat: the dedicated blog-post and landing-copy generators are still rolling out, so today a Blog or Landing Page Work gets the template code, deploys and the agent workforce, with the copy edited in the repository or delegated to an Agent task.
Emergent’s autonomy ends where the app goes live: E3 finishes at the deploy button, Emmy is a help chat, and Wingman is a personal task assistant rather than a site operator. Ever Works treats upkeep as the default state. Scheduled updates re-run the generation pipeline on seven cadences from hourly to monthly, with retries and auto-pause after repeated failures; Agents wake on their own heartbeats to take the next useful action; Missions keep proposing Ideas; auto-build turns accepted Ideas into Works once the Work agent is switched on; and community pull requests are processed automatically. Every change is a commit and a redeploy you can review.
Emergent lets you save the generated code to GitHub (from the Standard plan) and you own it, which is good — but the platform itself is closed and cloud-only, and deploying apps into your own VPC or database is an Enterprise feature. Ever Works commits both the content and the code: three repositories per Work — structured data, rendered markdown and the deployable site — in your own GitHub account, with the Knowledge Base versioned alongside. The runtime is AGPLv3 with no paid feature tier, ships Docker Compose and Kubernetes deployment guides, and works with 11 LLM providers including local Ollama, LM Studio and vLLM.
Ever Works gives you Missions, Ideas, Works and a named team of Agents, so one idea can grow into a portfolio of self-maintaining sites — and, on the roadmap, stores and whole companies — rather than a single app you keep prompting. Spend is governed at every level: budgets per Work, Mission, Idea, Agent and account, soft or hard, are checked before each AI call runs, not reported after. Emergent meters building, debugging and hosting in credits and bills as they are used, which is simple and predictable per tier but leaves the cap to you.

Choose Emergent when what you need is a custom application rather than a content site — a booking system, client portal, CRM, internal tool or storefront with sign-in, a database, payments and a mobile client — and you want the backend, hosting and deployment handled for you, with a live preview while you build. Its pricing page (checked 2026-09-04) lists a free tier with 10 credits a month, Standard at $20/month for 100 credits and Pro at $200/month for 750 credits, with Business and Enterprise on custom pricing; hosting a deployed app runs about 50 credits a month, monthly credits expire at the end of the cycle, and top-up credits do not. Its help center showed different entry-level figures on the same date, so confirm the current tiers before you commit. You will write or prompt the content yourself, and moving the app forward after launch means prompting again.
